Gateway Technical College becomes free of smoke

Gateway Technical College announced that beginning with this week it prohibits smoking on Gateway-owned grounds or in the college’s buildings.
Campuses would be completely tobacco-free, so sustaining the ban on public smoking spread along US and Europe.
Introducing of this dimension was encouraged by college’s Healthcare Benefits Taskforce and the college’s Executive Leadership Council sustained it.
Gateway Technical College is first in this area higher education that introduces ban on its territory. This was sustained by Jayne Herring, Gateway’s marketing and communications director.
“Of the 16 (Wisconsin Technical College System) campuses in the state, we’re the second one to go completely tobacco free”, Herring said.
Fact that Gateway will become a healthy place to learn and work, school officials said in a statement released Tuesday.
“Gateway Technical College is taking a big step toward establishing a healthier environment for its employees, students and visitors,” said Bill Whyte, Gateway’s vice president of human resources.
About new introduction are acknowledged all registered students. There are send mail to their homes and are placed special signs on building entrances. Signs are being posted at the main drives into each campus or center.
Students return for classes on Aug. 21, Herring said.
Gateway Technical College operates campuses in Racine, Kenosha and Walworth counties.
